Last year, Renault Trucks has entered into partnership with CMC Motors Group, part of the Al Futtaim Group, to distribute the brand in Kenya. Both companies’ ambitions matched perfectly since they aim to expand their footprint into the heavy commercial truck segment across the East African region.
Highly determined by the transport and logistics, Kenya’s economy has been increasing on an average rate of 5% on the last few years. The country is a hub for goods moving to the landlocked countries around, and the Port of Mombasa is an essential element to link the Northern Corridor up to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
Under the concept “The Diamond in the Rough”, the official launch of the Renault Trucks new range took place at the facilities of the new dealer CMC Motors in Nairobi on January 16. More than 150 customers, prospects and official guests from private and public sector, including Her Excellency the French ambassador, attended the event, which was, for the first time ever in the trucks industry in Kenya, live streamed on Facebook.
With this new partnership with CMC Motors, Renault Trucks will benefit from the dense dealer’s network, which currently counts with 8 branches all around Kenya, and a central warehouse in Nairobi. The vehicles will be assembled from Knocked Down kits in collaboration with Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers (KVM), located in Thika, 45 minutes away from Nairobi. As a next step, the opening of a regional training center in the capital is planned; which will allow the country to become a Hub for competences development in South East Africa.
